Easter Safety

Easter is a wonderful time of year full of beautiful flowers and yummy goodies to eat, but unfortunately these flowers and treats are not good for our pets. Here is a list of holiday items that can be quite harmful to your beloved animals:

Easter Lilies: These plants can be very toxic to cats.  Ingesting this plant may result in vomiting, diarrhea, seizures and even worse symptoms if left untreated.  It is best to remove these plants from your home.

Chocolate Candies: As most of us know, chocolate is very poisonous to our animals.  Chocolate can cause vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, difficulty breathing and many more symptoms.  Please remember to keep all chocolate treats out of your pets reach this holiday season.

Egg Safety: The shell of a hard boiled egg can be quite hazardous to our pets if ingested.  They can choke on the shell and pieces and lacerate your pets mouth, gums and throat.  Plastic egg can be just as harmful of chewed and swallowed too.

Easter Baskets: These beautifully decorated items not only contain toxic chocolate candies and sweets but the fake grass that lines the basket can be very harmful if swallowed, potentially wrapping around you pets intestines.  Please leave all baskets and goodies our of pets reach.

We strive to provide complete care for our patients. Learn more about all the services we provide.
